Welcome to Kindred
Booking somewhere new can feel like a leap — especially if your hair has been misunderstood before.
At Kindred, we slow the process down enough to really see what your hair needs. We’re a boutique salon in Woodbridge, VA specializing in seamless extensions, mesh integration, dimensional color, curly cuts, smoothing treatments, and mesh topper solutions.
But what we’re really known for is the way we listen, plan, and guide.
Before we recommend anything, we look at your natural hair, scalp health, texture, color history, lifestyle, and what your hair can realistically support. Our goal is not just beautiful hair the day you leave — it’s hair that feels comfortable, wearable, and cared for long after your appointment.
We believe great hair should feel personal, not rushed. Clear, not confusing. Elevated, not intimidating.
Whether you’re here for extensions, color, curls, smoothing, or added coverage, we’ll help you understand what’s possible, what’s worth it, and what makes sense for you.
Everything we do is intentional, grounded, and designed to feel good — during your appointment and after.
how to get started
All appointments are booked online—no phone, no receptionist, and no one answering mid-foil. We’re a small team, and when we’re with someone, we’re with them.
Once you book, you’ll get a confirmation text with a pre-consultation form. It helps us get to know you before you even walk in—so we’re ready with a plan that actually fits your hair, your goals, and the service you selected.
Extensions, hair loss solutions, Cezanne smoothing treatments, and Liscio Japanese straightening all require a consultation before scheduling the full appointment.
Still not sure what to book? Start with a consultation. We’ll help you choose the right next step—without guessing, overbooking, or squeezing you into something that isn’t the right fit.

New Client FAQ
Do you take new clients?
Yes. We welcome new clients for color, extensions, curly cuts, smoothing treatments, and hair replacement consultations. Some services can be booked directly, while others require a consultation first so we can make sure the plan is safe, realistic, and right for your hair.
I want balayage, but I don’t see it listed. Do you offer it?
Yes. Our menu is organized by result, not every technique we may use to get there. We offer modern highlighting and dimensional color techniques including balayage, air touch, babylights, teasylights, foil work, glossing, and more.
You do not need to know the exact technique to book. During your consultation, we’ll choose the approach that best fits your goals, hair history, lifestyle, and maintenance preferences.
I’m not sure what to schedule. What should I do?
Totally normal. If you’re unsure which service fits best, text us a few current photos of your hair and a few inspiration photos at (703) 832-0963. We’ll help point you toward the best new guest option or let you know if a consultation is the better first step.
What if I don’t know exactly what I want?
That’s okay. You do not need to arrive with perfect hair vocabulary or a fully built plan. Bring photos, tell us what you like and don’t like, and we’ll help translate that into a realistic plan for your hair.
Sometimes the best consultation starts with, “I know I don’t like what’s happening now.”
Will you tell me if my goal isn’t realistic?
Yes. Kindly, but clearly.
Our job is not to say yes to everything. It’s to help you understand what your hair can safely support, what may need to happen in phases, and what kind of maintenance your goal will require. We’ll always give you the honest version — not the salesy one.
Do you offer consultations before booking?
Yes. In-person consultations are available if you’re unsure what service is right for you.
Consultations are required before extensions, mesh integration, mesh topper integration, Cezanne smoothing treatments, Liscio Japanese straightening, and most corrective color services.
Can I wash my hair before my appointment?
In most cases, yes — clean, dry hair is best. It helps us see your natural texture, tone, scalp condition, and how your hair is currently behaving.
Try to avoid heavy oils, root sprays, dry shampoo buildup, or styling products before your visit if possible. If you’re coming straight from work or life happened, don’t stress. We’ll take it from there.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring inspiration photos, photos of hair you do not like, and any helpful history about your hair — especially previous color, extensions, smoothing treatments, relaxers, or chemical services.
For extension, mesh, topper, smoothing, or corrective services, the more honest the history, the better the plan.
Do you work with curly or textured hair?
Yes. We offer curly cuts and texture-aware color services. Our goal is to work with your natural texture, not fight it into submission.
If you wear your hair curly most of the time, please come in with your hair clean, dry, detangled, and styled how you normally wear it.
Do you work with thinning hair or hair loss?
Yes, depending on your hair and scalp condition. We offer extension consultations, mesh integration, and mesh topper integration for clients who need added fullness, coverage, or support.
Not every method is right for every scalp, so we always begin with a consultation to evaluate your natural density, scalp health, coverage needs, and what your hair can comfortably support.
Can I book color and extensions together?
Sometimes, yes — but not always on the same day. It depends on your current hair, your goal, the extension method, and whether color needs to happen before we order or install hair.
If you’re interested in both, start with the extension or hair replacement consultation process so we can build the plan in the right order.
Do you do color corrections?
Yes, but corrective color usually requires a consultation first. If your hair has banding, uneven tone, box dye, over-lightening, old color, or damage, we need to see what we’re working with before promising a result.
Corrective work is usually a process, not a one-appointment miracle. We’ll be honest about what’s possible, what’s safe, and what should happen first.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for larger services like extensions, dimensional color, smoothing treatments, and corrective work. Evening and weekend appointments are usually the first to fill.
If you have a specific event coming up, please give yourself extra time. Great hair and panic are not a cute couple.
Can I bring my kids or a friend to my appointment?
Because we’re a small, calm salon space, we ask that you come solo unless you are a minor bringing a parent or it has been arranged ahead of time.
This helps us keep the environment relaxed, focused, and comfortable for everyone in the studio.
Why did my call go to voicemail?
Our phone is set up to route calls to voicemail because we’re usually with guests and want to stay fully present during appointments.
For the fastest response, please text us at (703) 832-0963. We don’t return phone calls, but we’re happy to help by text.
Why do you need my credit card to hold the appointment?
A card on file is required to reserve your appointment time. You are not charged at booking unless a deposit is listed for that service.
Your card is only charged in the event of a late cancellation, no-show, or policy-related fee. We keep our policies clear so there are no awkward surprises.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules. This gives us time to offer the appointment to another guest.
Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a fee according to our booking policy.
