KINDRED COLOR STUDIO

MODERN COLOR SERVICES

Color sessions designed around your goal — not confusing salon jargon.

Choose the color session that best matches the result you want: brighter blonde, dimensional brunette, gray coverage, vivid color, or a full transformation.

You do not need to know whether you need balayage, foils, glossing, tip-outs, lowlights, root blending, or toning to book correctly. Our color services are packaged by goal so your appointment has the time and flexibility needed to customize the technique, placement, formula, and tone for your hair.

Your color plan will be based on your current hair, color history, inspiration photos, maintenance preferences, and long-term goals. If your result requires a consultation, extra time, or more than one session, we’ll walk you through that before moving forward.

What’s Included in Your Color Session

Your color session may include customized placement, glossing, root blending, lowlights, tip-outs, toning, a bond builder, haircut, finish, and style — depending on your hair, starting point, and goal.

This gives your colorist the time and flexibility to create a thoughtful plan, adjust as needed, and include the finishing details that make your color look soft, modern, healthy, and wearable.

A Note About Additional Time or Product

Our color packages are built to include what most guests need for the result listed. In most cases, the time, color, bond builder, haircut, and finished style are already accounted for within the session you book.

Occasionally, your hair may require additional product, extra processing time, or an added step that is not included in the original session. This can happen with previous color, heavy banding, unexpected warmth, extra density, resistant gray, or hair that reacts differently once the service is underway.

If that happens, there may be an additional charge for product and/or time. We’ll always do our best to communicate clearly before adding anything outside of the original service plan, so you understand what’s needed and why.

How to Choose Your Color Session

Start with the result you want most.

  • If you want to be much brighter, choose a blonding session.

  • If you already have blonde or bronde and need a refresh, choose a Signature Blonde Session.

  • If you want richness, depth, or brunette dimension, choose a Dimensional Brunette Session.

  • If you need gray coverage, choose one of the coverage sessions.

  • If you need a correction, gray transition, platinum-level lift, or major reset, choose a Total Transformation Session.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Modern Color FAQ

I want balayage. What should I book?

Choose based on the result you want, not the technique. Balayage, airtouch, teasylights, glossing, root taps, color melts, lowlights, and toning are all techniques we may use within a session depending on your goal, your starting point, and the integrity of your hair.

The most important thing is choosing a session with enough time for your desired result and completing your consultation form after booking so we can review your hair history, photos, and goals in advance.

What if I book the wrong color session?

Choose the session that feels closest to your goal. Once you schedule, complete your consultation form as soon as possible so we can review your hair history, photos, and goals before your appointment.

If the session you chose doesn’t match what your hair needs, we’ll reach out in advance or adjust the appointment from our side when possible.

Can I go lighter in one appointment?

Sometimes, but not always. Going lighter in one appointment depends on your current color, previous color history, hair health, density, porosity, and how light you want to be. Some blonde goals require more than one session.

Do you offer gray blending?

Yes. Gray blending can be created in many different ways depending on your current color, percentage of gray, maintenance goals, and how soft you want your grow-out to feel.

It may fall under Dimensional Coverage, Total Transformation, or another custom color plan. If you’re starting to transition away from full coverage base color into a softer gray blend, we recommend scheduling a color consultation first so we can talk through your best options and create a realistic plan.

What is the difference between gray coverage and gray blending?

Gray coverage covers gray hair more fully, usually with permanent color or a base color application. Gray blending softens the contrast between gray hair and colored hair so the grow-out feels less harsh.

Gray blending may use sheer demi-permanent color, highlights, lowlights, or a combination of techniques depending on your current color, percentage of gray, and long-term goal.

What counts as a color correction?

Color correction can mean anything from small refinements to major transformations. Many new guests have minor corrective needs, like unwanted warmth, uneven tone, harsh highlights, dull ends, or color that needs to be softened and rebalanced.

Those smaller adjustments can often be handled within the right color session.

A true transformation usually involves bigger changes, such as heavy banding, removing dark or vivid color, platinum-level lifting, rebuilding major dimension, transitioning to gray in one day, or shifting your hair toward a completely different result. In those cases, we may recommend a consultation or Total Transformation Session.

Do I need a consultation first?

We’ll always consult before your color service begins. Every session includes time to review your consultation form, talk through your goals, look at your inspiration photos, and create the game plan for that appointment.

A separate color consultation is best if you’re planning a major change, color correction, vivid color, platinum goal, gray transition, or if you’re not sure which session fits your hair.

Is a haircut included?

Yes. Our color sessions include a haircut and finished style so the final result feels complete.

Is a bond builder included?

Yes. A bond builder is included in our color sessions to support the hair during the color process.
