Is a Gloss the Right Move?
Should I gloss or do full color?
It depends on what you’re hoping to change. A gloss is perfect when your tone just needs a refresh—not a total shift. If your color has grown out, faded unevenly, or needs a full rework, we’ll likely recommend a full color service instead. But for soft shine, frizz control, and tone correction? Glossing does more than enough.
Will this make my blonde brighter or darker?
Either—depending on what we choose together. Glosses come in a wide range of sheer tones. We can brighten up a dull blonde, cool down brassiness, or add depth for a more neutral finish. If you’re unsure, we’ll talk through what you’re seeing vs. what you want to see.
Can I gloss virgin hair just for shine?
Absolutely. Glossing isn’t just for color clients—it’s also great for enhancing natural tone, increasing manageability, and giving untreated hair a reflective, healthy finish. And since it’s ammonia-free, there’s zero damage or commitment.
How often should I gloss?
Most clients gloss every 8–12 weeks, depending on how their tone holds and how much shine they want to maintain. If you’re trying to stretch out color appointments, we’ll help you build a rhythm that supports your goals without over processing your hair.
Do I need a gloss if I already get highlights or lived-in color?
Yes—glossing is a key part of maintaining brightness, tone, and softness after highlights or dimensional color. It helps neutralize brass, enhance contrast, and keep your hair looking intentional between bigger appointments.
What about root taps or color melts—are those glosses too?
They can be! Root taps and color melts are typically done using multiple glosses to blend root depth, midtone softness, and end tone. Depending on how many formulas are needed (e.g., one for roots, one for mids, one for ends), an additional glossing charge may apply—but we’ll always walk you through that during your consultation.
